SELECTION
Selecting the right size and type of wetsuit can be difficult if you have never done it before, here are some pointers to help you out.
- Select a size that fits nice and firm in all areas. This is the most important factor. If a wetsuit is not snug all over it will let water in and eventually make you cold. Do not buy a wetsuit to “grow into” as you are wasting your money. You may need to try on three sizes to make sure you get the right size.
- You also may be a different size in a different type of wetsuit due to the stretchiness of the rubber used in each type. For example you may fit into a Medium Mercury but will be Medium Tall or Large in the Jupiter range. The same goes for the cut, just because you are a Medium in a steamer do not assume that a Medium in a Spring suit will fit you best.
- Selecting a wetsuit for the right conditions. Most people select a wetsuit type that they will use in their local area depending on the season. If you can only afford the one wetsuit then select one for the colder season in your area.
- Select the best wetsuit that you can afford. The two main price differences are the stitching, either Glued and Blind Stitched as this lets little to no water in or Flatlock, this allows the water to go straight through to your body. Stretch is the other main factor as the more flexible a wetsuit is the more expensive it will be. Remembering you may even be a different size in separate wetsuits due to their stretchiness.
- Upgrading to a more expensive wetsuit may seem a lot of money at the time of purchase. We suggest you calculate how many times you think you will use the suit over its lifetime and divide it by the price difference to work out a per usage cost. It may be more economical to upgrade after you have done the maths.
- Use the size chart below as a guide to select your wetsuit.

CARE GUIDE
In order to obtain the maximum life out of your wetsuit we have created a guide to help you maintain your wetsuit. Not following this guide can severely reduce the life of your wetsuit and in some cases void your warranty.
Rinse with FRESH water after EVERY use. Salt is corrosive.
Hang to dry out of direct sunlight. The sun reduces material flexibility.
Avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects or surfaces.
Do not expose your wetsuit to high temperatures such as heaters, fires and car boots.
Do not iron, bleach, machine wash or dry clean your wetsuit.
Do not use any chemicals or detergents on your wetsuit.
Put your wetsuit on with care, don’t force it. Be gentle with your zipper as this requires finesse on occasion.
Keep zipper done up when not in use.
Remember your wetsuit demands to be rinsed in fresh water after every use.
If your wetsuit stinks then the smell is usually there because you left your wet wetsuit in a bag for a long period of time or you do not wash it in fresh water after every use. The smell is a combined result of sweat and body odours that our body produces. These are a breeding ground for bacteria which are in fact the thing that gives your wetsuit a bad smell.
The other bad smell your wetsuit has is from your urine. Try to avoid urinating in your wetsuit. I know this can be difficult at times but urine also deteriorates the neoprene, sealed seams and you will avoid a smelly wetsuit.
If for some reason your wetsuit gets one of these bad smells, you can clean it by soaking it in a tub with slightly warm water and a touch of detergent. This will break down the body oils and odours and wash away the bacteria. Then rinse your wetsuit thoroughly in fresh water and hang it to dry in the shades as usual. You may need to repeat the process in extreme cases.
